Just passing time

The title says it all. No problems. Today Dr. Levitt will be in and take his first look since surgery. Then we'll know for certain if tomorrow is the day where we can spring this joint! We've done our time and are looking forward to getting back home no "normalcy".

I'm glad we came when we did and just from talking face to face with the doctor I'm learning more about what the future might hold for Kaylee and continence issues. He says Kaylee is "on the fence" if her constipation can be managed with laxatives or if she'll need daily enemas. One thing we have hope for is as she grows and becomes more in tune with her body what we do now for her may not have to stay that way the rest of her life.

I'm also "on the fence" about how much of her personal details I want to share on the blog. It's a very private matter for her which I'm becoming more aware of as she gets older. Yet, I don't want her to ever feel embarrassed or ashamed about how she was born. I want her to be confident and proud and know without a doubt that God doesn't make mistakes. Many children like her are born with imperforate anus and one of my goals for her, besides connecting to other children from China, is to make friends with other girls "like her".

She has an EXCELLENT team of doctors here at Cincinnati--it's just too bad they're so far away!

It's also been a good time for me to spend one on one time with Kaylee. Since Jackson came home last fall things have been a bit more hectic to say the least! I've been able to focus on her and see what a delightful little girl she turning into. No longer a baby or even a toddler as her language is exploding into full sentences and she's able to express herself. Sydney has been staying here with us since yesterday and it's good for the girls to play together. They have such fun!

Jackson is back in Indy with the family. Tomorrow we hope to visit the Aquarium in town (we can get in free since we're at the RM house). Then travel back to Indy either late tomorrow or Wednesday--depending on how tired my parents and sister are of taking care of Jackson and the dog! It's like I always say, "It's good to see them come--and good to see them go!".

I forgot to mention we had a really nice visit with a family who lives her in Cincinnati who we met last September in China. They were adopting a little girl from Jackson's orphanage, so we all got to see each other again! Although the kids showed no signs of recognition at all :), it was quite a commotion with 6 children and 3 adults in one little hospital room!

Later this week we hope to get together with another family who adopted Jackson's foster sister. And I think I forgot to mention that last week we were able to get together with a family who adopted a little girl from Sydney's referral group back in 2005. I'll post more about that later when I can put photos on the blog from my home computer.
