"There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home..." and just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz here we are!
We arrived back at DFW about 7 last night. Yes, they were LONG flights! No, Andrew and I didn't sleep more than a few minutes each the whole time. The kids did well considering they couldn't stretch out to sleep and considering the family was split up for the 11 hour flight from Seoul to LAX.
I don't know where the mix up occurred, but Andrew ended up with the 3 seats in the back row, so he took Sydney and Jackson and I was up 7 rows with Kaylee and a stranger. Honestly it was some of the longest hours of my life. If I was prone to melt downs like my kids I would have had one! The stranger next to Kaylee was coughing and hacking the entire trip so it's no wonder she woke up with a fever this morning.
My fever didn't last more than a day so it was gone for the travel, but I did have a wicked sore throat that is actually gone this morning. Perhaps Kaylee's fever is just her turn for the bug. I'll just assume she has a sore throat as well and hope Andrew and Jackson are spared.
Jackson is doing as well as can be expected. A bit overwhelmed, prone to crying if he can't find Andrew. A very rude shock to him when he was put to sleep in the pack and play next to Andrew's side of the bed last night. But Andrew is about at the end of his patience with his new shadow son. At least Jackson does settle for me if he can't find Andrew, but I'm not his first choice. I think we'll all do ok when Andrew goes back to work. Jackson will come to me and hold his arms up to be picked up and stop crying.
We all were in bed about 10:30 and Sydney slept through to 6 am! Unfortunately, Kaylee and then Jackson were up crying at 3:30 and that's when I noticed Kayee was sick. But both kids ate, played a bit and then went back to bed.
I'm not the only one happy to be home. Last night my Kaylee finally came back too! She had been so out of sorts the last few weeks. Not eating great, prone to screaming temper tantrums and just not at all my little girl. She was so happy to be back! Just running aroung with the dog, playing with her toys, and very happily went to her crib last night.
My parents picked us up from the airport and will stay 2 weeks. I supposedly have an appt with Jackson at the Shriner's in Galveston in 2 weeks, but it sounds as if no one is even back on the island yet after the hurricane last week. In the meantime, we'll certainly welcome the extra hands to all get adjusted as Jackson will take his own private watcher! He's such a normal, busy boy and doesn't know limits yet. He'll enjoy being outside running as the weather has made a dramatic change in the two weeks we've been gone. Now it's going to be in the 80's and it's actually in the 50's overnight! I haven't felt anything that cool for literally months now. I think I can breathe again.
Thank you all for following along on this latest trip to China!
