It's been a slow summer of posting and photos, but quick here in our home. A few weeks ago the hard drive in our desktop computer where I do all my photos, etc bit the dust. A few days Andrew was able to get it out, hook it to one of his at work and retrieve a lot of the information. Hopefully we can get a new hard drive and get it going again. Right now I'm getting by with a laptop, but it's not the same as it's a Mac and not what I'm used to!
I also had some laprascopic surgery last week which required an overnight stay. That set me back a few days as well and I'm just now able to drive again. Things went well, but I underestimated how long I would be sore. I guess compared to a full incision this is easier, but I hope I never have to have surgery again. Not fun. Sure puts in perspective all the years I had of taking care of surgical patients and now I'm on the receiving end. On one hand I miss being a nurse, but there's no way I would have the time nor energy for that now.
Andrew is back at school for the new semester. Sydney is officially in Kindergarten--but at home. A few days ago I had to sit her down and explain that she is in school now and when someone asks her what grade she's in she can tell them. She was telling people she wasn't going to school--which in a way was true. I'm happy that I've got the topics and resources for this year covered. I like the flexibility and the way I can tailor learning to her needs. There is a very large homeschooling group in our area. Lots to see and do in the metroplex as well. The library system is fantastic and full of resources. For example, one of my books recommended some books for Sydney's age on art appreciation. Simple picture books on famous art works that are fun for kids to look through and find things hidden in the paintings, etc. Well, that led us to one Saturday going to the Fort Worth art museum looking for a Van Gogh. While they don't have one of his paintings it was a good introduction (and free) for all the kids to see a real art museum.
Sydney is also doing ballet/tap again this year as well as a weekly Chinese class. I would love to have Kaylee start to get involved in something, but she has so much energy that she's just as happy going to a local gym and running around. She has started to recognize letters and is learning their sounds.
