Last week was Spring Break and Andrew was home. We got LOTS crossed off our to do list, so a very productive time. The weather was also perfect, so we could be outside a lot. Andrew's allergies only bothered his eyes slightly even though he's on a nasal spray, tablet, and eye drops which he needs every year during the springtime.
I decided to go ahead and try to potty train Kaylee, but Jackson somehow ended up joining in (he doesn't like to be left out of anything, especially when it involves treats of m & m's!). We weren't sure how Kaylee would do as the urologist said the big test for her would be if she could indeed be trained. We are thrilled that she seems to be catching on very quickly! She's staying dry for a few hours and then actually making it to the toilet when she needs to go. I'm trying not to suggest she go and sit, but instead let her take the lead and tell us when she has to go. I don't think she's learned yet to go on command, so if we leave the house then she still wears a diaper.
So how is Jackson doing? Well, let's just say I've come to the conclusion he's not ready, and it's too much work trying to train them both. Jackson came to us already knowing how to pee on command which is nice, because you can just sit him on the toilet and he'll go. Unfortunately, he seems to need to go every 30 minutes to an hour! He also doesn't recognize when he needs to go on a consistent basis. The last straw was him wetting his training pants not more than 15 minutes after he went on the toilet! He really did master being able to pull his pants up and down this week which was great, but I'm thinking of either stopping for a while with him or else trying pull ups and see if he can get the hang of it.
The kids have all had colds this week as well, so it seems all I've done is either wipe noses or bottoms. Or wash loads of trainer pants. Or clean messes out of the carpet. No wonder I'm tired and ready for another vacation!
