Sydney is going to her first organized activity--swim lessons! What a big girl now! I snapped a quick photo today of her just getting wet. Parents aren't allowed to stay and watch, but for her last class next week we can watch so I'll have lots more to share then!
She goes 4 days a week for 1/2 hour each time. There are also 4 kids in the class with 2 instructors. I think she's learning some good stuff, although she is quite timid and fearful at times. Yesterday she reported crying because "my teacher let go of me underwater". But today she was very happy and proud because she went underwater "and I wasn't scared anymore". Andrew and I are doing our best to really talk this up and make it as postive an experience as possible.
I remember my first swim class at about age 4. Refused to put my face in the water--even when the instructor held water in her cupped hands! I still have a vivid memory of looking at her hands with the water in them and remembering being scared to death! No way was I going to do that! I still don't care for the water much, but I really hope my kids can learn to enjoy swimming.
Still no word on our LOA. I emailed our agency and they have no news for us either. We're still praying to go next month, and there's a lot of stuff still to have to happen. One interesting thing on our prayer request list was for a travel group with us the entire time. That way we wouldn't shoulder the entire financial burden of the only family with a guide. Plus, we enjoy meeting other families and sharing this awesome event together!
Last Monday our agency got non-special need referrals--and 1/2 of them were from Guangdong Province which is where we'll be the entire trip. Normally they would be travelling to China in 6-8 weeks from now. With the Olypmics so close now our agency mentioned they didn't know if this group would travel or not before August. But what if they did travel next month? And what if we got to join that group? Definately would be an answer to prayer!
Keep praying for us! Waiting is very hard, especially wanting to make plans and know for certain what that plan is!
